Lithium iron phosphate ion battery cell
High safety, low risk of thermal runaway, excellent high-temperature resistance, and long-lasting lithium-ion battery.
Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries are considered to be the safest lithium-ion batteries currently available. The strong bond between phosphorus (P) and oxygen (O) in the cathode material, lithium iron phosphate, makes it difficult for the structure to collapse even if there is heat generation inside the battery, thus reducing the risk of thermal runaway. Additionally, LiFePO4 batteries are suitable for outdoor high-temperature scenarios, such as direct sunlight on solar streetlights. After 2000 charge-discharge cycles, discharging to 2V at 0.2C, the discharge capacity remains above 80%, making it a long-lasting battery. Moreover, the main material is iron, which lowers manufacturing costs compared to other batteries, and in recent years, it has gained increasing popularity among automotive and energy storage system (ESS) manufacturers. There is no memory effect, and the battery capacity does not decrease with repeated shallow charging and discharging; it can be topped up at any time, making it highly practical.
